• The total population of Cambodia in 2021 is 16.9464 million; compared with the population data in 2011, the population of Cambodia has increased by 2.405 million. (World Bank, 2022)

• From the perspective of gender structure, in 2021, Cambodia's male population accounts for 48.8%, with a population of 8.275 million; women accounts for 51.2%, with a population of 8.671 million. (World Bank, 2022)

• From the perspective of age structure, in 2021, the proportion of the population aged 0-14 in Cambodia is 30.7%; the proportion of the population aged 15-64 is 64.3%; and the proportion of the population aged 65 and above is 5%. (World Bank, 2022)

• From the perspective of urban and rural structure, Cambodia's urbanization rate is 24.7% in 2021, and the urban population is 4.18 million, an increase of 1.175 million compared with 2011. The rural population is 12.766 million, accounting for 75.3% of the total population. (World Bank, 2022)

• Approximately 504,000 economically active children aged between 5 and 17 had dropped out of school or had never attended classes  (UNESCO, The Phnom Penh Post, 2019)
